People in this world has been inspired for many years to have an individualistic life style, with their own passions and desires as the main purpose in life. It has to be about you every time and maybe the only reason you do things for others is because you expect something in return in the near future or so just you'll feel good about yourself. We also have this consequentialistic approach in life where, we always weigh things down and choose the one that will benefit you or the others the most, if really necessary. As long as you got the 100k salary a year, then who cares if one or two of your workmates get fired. If you become popular in school, then being a bully would be such a small price to pay, isn't it? For me, and maybe for most of us, I used to believe that as long as I get a decent girlfriend, work, salary or savings then everything would be fine and it wouldn't really matter if I lose a friend or two in the process.
However, my experience here in New Zealand changed my ingrained mindset on how to live a comfortable life. And it took me almost 3 years to realize it: To have a comfortable lifestyle, then you have to be uncomfortably comfortable in your life. Always go out of your comfort zone, and never ever allow your passion to take control of your reasoning. I know it sounds yueck, but hey, you'll never know until you try it. I recently had a privilege to be in the company of a group of teenagers and honestly I learned a lot from them. and the main thing that I learned the most is:
"Give a person ten minutes of your life, and you could impact ten years of theirs'.
It just has to be about the others, and whatever comes back to you would be just a bonus, not the reward. If you say that this do not, or did not, or even will not work for you, then maybe you are missing a central element in your life. And of course its God. BAM! half of the people who read this blog would've just pressed the return button. If you didn't, thank you. Hopefully, in the future, I could tell you more about Him... That's all for now...
"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile." -Romans 1:16
